About Michael Putnam
I feel passionate about photography. I have acquired an appreciation of the sights and sounds of both people and scenic vistas. I have attempted to incorporate this understanding into my photography, and to share my experiences. As a retired member of the U.S. Army I have spent countless hours taking pictures all over North America and throughout the World in exotic far away places such as Eastern and Western Europe, the Mediterranean, Africa, the Middle East, and the Far East. Currently working out of Springfield, VA., I am close to Washington, DC as well as the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge Mountains.
I have developed a special affinity for Microphotography. I am fascinated with how a close-up photo of an object can open up a whole new world, an unexplored landscape.
I want to blend the style of classical photography – the great masters of photography with the impressionistic and classical painters. I love exploring landscape, still life -- floral and other, as well as portrait work though my lenses.
